Virtual social networks have been used by many people in the community as an attractive way of communication. Therefore, a considerable amount of information is shared on these sites, which has potentially significant implications for individuals' social identities and lifestyles. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of virtual social networks on students' social identity and lifestyle. The statistical population of the present study includes all students of Farhangian University of Mashhad. According to the statistics received from Farhangian University, approximately (2112) people were studying in the academic year 1396, which using the Cochran's formula, 322 people were selected as the statistical sample size. The research method is survey method, cross-sectional in terms of time and type of applied studies, and the method of random sampling was simple. The measurement tool in this study is a researcher-made questionnaire, the validity of which was confirmed by expert professors and its reliability was estimated and confirmed using Cronbach's alpha test of 0.80. Analysis of findings in this study from tests Parametrics such as Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test, one-way analysis of variance and regression were used. Findings show that there is a relationship between the use of social networks with lifestyle and social identity and the use of social networks based on age and gender.

Communication technologies have become an integral part of life today. Among these, mobile phones have had a significant impact on the personal and social lives of young people, especially university students. The purpose of this study is to describe the meaning of mobile from the perspective of users' experiences based on an interpretive research method. Participants in this study were 15 female students of the University of Isfahan who were selected for an interview through purposive sampling. Based on the analysis of the interviews, two main categories (reciprocal subjectivity and mobile paradox) and five sub-categories (mobile identification, the birth of virtual-self, non-mobile phobia, creating opportunities, and constraining opportunities) were identified in students' experiences of mobile. Findings showed that the understandings of female students of mobile are more than just a means of communication. By establishing two-way communication with mobile, users use its facilities to redefine their identity in cyberspace and sometimes prefer virtual identity over their real self. The attractiveness of mobile and its overuse, in addition to creating dependence on mobile, has made this device a substitute for face-to-face communication. Meanwhile, users tried to justify their dependence by giving a personality to the mobile phone and having a human-like definition of it in their minds. Finally, from the perspective of students' experiences, mobile, in addition to creating various opportunities and capacities, also has many negative implications. These contradictions have caused a dual and paradoxical image of mobile in the minds of users.

The aim of present study was comparing virtual social network use, attachment styles and self-knowledge among male and female students. Present study was causal-comparative study. Using cluster sampling, 207 students (male=96, female=111) were selected among students of Malayer University as statistical population. A questionnaire consisting of attachment scale, self-knowledge scale filled out by sample groups. Students were asked about the amount of they use virtual social networks such as Telegram, Instagram, WhatsApp, Imo, Line, Facebook over 24 hours. Data were analyzed by multivariable analysis of variance. Residence place of students (dormitory and home) statistically was controlled. Results showed statistically significant differences (P<0/05) in self-knowledge, avoidant style of attachment, and amount of social networks usage between male and female students. Female students had higher scores of self-knowledge than males but lower scores of avoidant style of attachment and lower levels of social network use. Based on results psychological interventions of self-knowledge and attachment in male students relationships in social networks seems to be useful.

The present study aimed to investigate the relationships between social anxiety, perceived social support, feeling of loneliness, and self-regulation with dependence on virtual social networks in order to develop a structural model for students.514 high school students were selected as the samples from four districts of northern and southern Tehran by cluster sampling method. Students responded to the social anxiety (Puklek, 2004), perceived social support (Zimet et al, 1988), and loneliness (Russell, 1996) questionnaires as well as the researcher-made questionnaire of dependence on social networks, and self-regulation questionnaire (Brown, Miller, and Lewandowski, 1999).Research data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results indicated that the model had a good fit. In direct effects, there was a significant relationship between social anxiety, perceived social support and self- regulation, but in indirect effects, only the loneliness variable had a significant relationship with mediation of self-regulation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the four predictor variables had influence on social network dependency. This issue indicates their special importance.

The purpose of this article was to study The Relationship between the Use of Virtual Social Networks and Changes in Students' Social Capital Dimensionsl of students of Mohaghegh Ardebil University who study at this university in the academic year of 2018-2019. In this study, the survey method has been used. The statistical population of the research consisted of the students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University in the same year, of which 383 were selected as the statistical sample based on the calculations by the Cochran formula. Sampling method is a randomized class. The findings of the research showed that among the six hypotheses that considered for research, three hypotheses, "Relationship between students 'use of virtual social networks and students' self-confidence" "The Relationship between the Use of Virtual Social Networks and Students' Religious Beliefs " and "Relationship between students 'use of virtual social networks and students allegiance from society norms and rule"did not have meaningful relationship and the intensity of their relationship was weak. This means that the students have stated that despite having spent too much time in these networks, their self-confidence has not increased significantly due to this presence. Also, presence in these networks has not reinforcement their beliefs and their following of norms . three other study hypotheses, which include the variables of interactive relationships, social confidence and participation and cooperation have a meaningful relationship. This means that more presence in virtual social networks has increased the number of these cases among students.

The purpose of this study was to develop a model for improving the function of virtual social networks in order to improve the health status of women. The research was applied for practical purposes and descriptive survey was applied. The statistical population included women's health professionals and virtual networks, which were selected according to the Cochran formula. 384 of them were selected by purposeful method. The data gathering tool was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS and SmartPlS software. The results showed that ten factors of individual characteristics, family strength, women's awareness, social participation, social networking efficiency, online societies, psychological characteristics, cultural characteristics, social characteristics and macroeconomic factors affect the impact of virtual social networks on women's health. And the three factors of women's awareness (0.802), macroeconomic factors (0.801) and social networking (0.772) have the highest priority and the share of effectiveness. Policymakers need to put their efforts to reduce the social stratum, that is, reducing the inequality of power, social image, income, and wealth associated with different socio-economic situations. Also, solutions such as changing planners 'and authorities' attitudes toward this space and removing the limits of using virtual social networks, removing their negative view of users of these networks, and educating the general public are recommended. It seems that entering mediating variables such as government policies and supports such as a comprehensive health plan can help to better communicate.

The debate regarding the individuality or collectivity of the Iranian society is still alive among the Iranian scholars and sociologists. But, in these debate and also experimental researches on the individualism or collectivism of Iranian society one will notice that no attention has been paid to virtual social networks. However the participation in the virtual social networks has become an important part of Iranians` everyday life, and so it is necessary to examine collectivism and individualism with regard to these networks. In order to study this topic the following inquiry has been started by examining the networked individualism theory of Barry Wellman (2012) and after redefining of the concept, we have made a scale for measuring it. Therefore, one of the innovations in this study is creating a scale for this concept. The results showed that networked individualism exists at a moderate level. Also, the new findings suggest that familism, as a public culture of Iranian society in virtual networks also plays a significant role. Finally, it can be said that the networked individualism`s scale developed in this research, which has happened for the first time, can be a sufficient tool for the study of individualism in cyberspace that needs to be rectified and measured.

Public sphere is the real field of emergence and continuity of social communications, institutions, and civil associations. Mass Medias, especially virtual social networks. Are among social phenomena which have close relationship with public sphere. In contemporary world, the result of the activities and experiences of the members of a society in virtual social networks, as a social determinant, can change the domain of the public sphere. This research concentrates on this relation, and in other word, it is a probe to answer the question that “can the virtual social networks strengthen the ability of social actors on non-virtual public sphere?” This research is applied, quantitative and explanatory, the logic of it is deduction, and its method is survey. The theoretical focus of the research is on the ideas of Hannah Arendt, Jurgen Habermas and recent standpoints in the field of public sphere and media. Studied population are students of Tehran universities in 2015-16. Sampling population of this research are 310 students and the sampling method is multi- instance probability. These two statement are the most important empirical findings of the research: First, the membership in few virtual social networks or too many of them doesn’t have any determinant role in the quantity of activity in non-virtual public sphere (civil associations). Second, activity in non-virtual public sphere decreases along with the increasing in the quantity of student’s activity in virtual social networks.

The results showed a significant and positive relationship between parental socio-economic level of the students, the amount of internet usage, the duration of membership in social networks, simplicity and ease of access to social networks, the amount of usage of close people (friends and family), the need for progress, satisfaction of needs and the tendency toward virtual social networks. The results of multiple regressions shows a significant effect of five variables including the amount of internet usage, the simplicity and ease of access to the social networks, the duration of membership in social networks, satisfaction of needs and the amount of usage of close people from social networks on Shahrekord high school teenage girls’ tendency toward virtual social networks and among these variables, the amount of internet usage plays a more important role in their tendency toward virtual social networks.Using variance linear combination of independent variables, 52/1% of the variance could explain the tendency to virtual social networks.

This paper offers an interdisciplinary study on mechanisms of homophily in virtual social network at Graduate University of Zanjan. Despite the significance of homophily, not many studies have been done on it. It is for this reason this paper sets its objective to study homophily in Iran and considers its unit of analysis to be Graduate University of Zanjan. Theoretically the paper uses a theoretical synthesis based on what homophily means in the discipline of Network Science and Technology and combines it with the concept of homophily in Communication and Sociology. Methodologically, the paper collects its data from among students at Graduate University of Zanjan during a period of 2009 and 2014. We used some interviews and set up some face-to face interviews with questionnaires in addition to observations in order to complete the data gathering. Then we calculated the number of connections with similar characteristics of individuals and subtracted them from total connections expected in a random situation so to measure homophily. Here the paper has measured characteristics or variables such as gender, graduate degree level, discipline, city of residence, marital status, and year of entering university. Some of the results indicate that students, who use social network of Graduate University of Zanjan, select their friends based on the following characteristics and in the following order: similarity in gender, marital status, degree level, discipline, year of entering university, and city of residence. Our observations indicate that religious norms play a special role in communicating with opposite sex.

The purpose of study was to determine the role of personality traits in distinguishing virtual social networks users and non-users. The present research design was a cross - correlation. The sample research consisted of 194 student users and 76 non -users in virtual social networks (270 people in total), who were selected using multi- stage cluster sampling among undergraduates and graduate students of Tabriz University. To collect data, short form of the NEO Personality Inventory, a demographic questionnaire and for data analysis, discriminant analysis method was used. Data analysis showed that personality factors extroversion, conscientiousness and openness to experience, in order of preference, have a significant role in distinguishing users from non-users in virtual social networks (p< 0/001). Extroverted people are sociable and have more tendencies to establish intimate relationships with others. In addition, people with high levels of openness to experience are curious about the inner and outer world and their life is full of experience, thus the use of virtual social networks is a new approach to communicate with others. Accordingly, the unstructured environments of this network causes that, people with low conscientiousness feature due to lack of impulse control more use them more.
